This interactive planning tool estimates useful concurrent referee coverage from the courts
officiated at the same time, tournament duration, work-block length, break relief, and reserves.
Transparent planning formula
Start with one referee for each court officiated
simultaneously. Add no relief, one relief referee, or a rotation buffer of one referee per four
courts, then add the reserve coverage selected by the planner. Divide tournament hours by the
preferred work-block length to estimate work periods.
The result is a planning estimate, not an official USA Pickleball or other sanctioning-body
staffing requirement. Travel delays, credentials, match format, and local policy can change the
actual need.
